Mindful Mental Health Counseling is located in NYC, founded by Gianna LaLota. Gianna hired Studio Adagio to complete a WordPress therapist website design, branding and copywriting project. In this blogpost, we’ll be discussing how branding for private practice clinicians is so crucial to crafting a calming presence online. Many therapist websites feel too sterile, where this one is far beyond.
Therapist Website Design and Branding Goals

Gianna reached out to our team in March of 2024 still a part of her group practice. She was using her extra time outside of work to build and prepare for launching her own private practice. Her interest in working with Studio Adagio came from our specialty in her niche and in SEO services. She needed to get found online and that was priority.
Most therapist websites feel sterile and overly clinical. Gianna wanted something that felt “her” while also exuding professionalism. We recommended our branding, website design & copywriting package to move forward.
As we hopped on our discovery call, it was clear that Gianna wanted a cohesive brand and a polished website optimized for conversion. The brand itself needed to feel calming because she helps her clients feel calm from anxieties they face. Lastly, she wanted it to feel luxe and modern. We knew the exact direction to take it.
WordPress Website Design for a Calming, Client-Friendly Experience
For this therapist website design, we knew WordPress was going to be her best friend. Because her knowledge and necessity of SEO was top priority, WordPress was our recommendation. This allows our team to have full control over her SEO optimization through plugins like All in One SEO.
Also, because she was new in private practice, we weren’t totally sure of her long-term goals with her practice. Maybe one day she wanted to hire an additional practitioner? If this was the case, WordPress can scale with her.
Before diving into this project, we laid out a few key points for the website design itself, in order to make it calm and client-friendly:
- Easy to navigate layout
- A user experience that gives them one option to book
- Mobile responsiveness
- Messaging that uses relatability
At Studio Adagio, we specialize in web design for private practice. We know the ins and outs of your practice, but also your ideal clients. This is why we were the perfect fit for Gianna and Mindful Mental Health Counseling.
Branding Design for a Therapist in Private Practice
All beautiful therapist website designs start with a cohesive brand. As a therapist, you always want to bridge the gap between intentional, professional and relatable. It’s why your clients work with you, right? They feel like it would be easy to have a chat with you!
For Mindful Mental Health Counseling, we immediately knew a serif font was what we’d be working with. Serif fonts are known to feel luxe and calming because they have structure in each letter and are dainty enough to provide detail. Overall, we want the brand to infuse the following keywords:
Mindfulness. This is depicted through the tiny italics throughout the brand. They are completely customized type.
Calm. Patterns and textures help a lot when it comes to evoking feelings. Many of the textures for this brand feel calm because of the muted tones.
Clarity. While this isn’t visually depicted, this is done through brand messaging and copywriting by being extra clear on what she offers and who it’s to.

Overall, the Mindful Mental Health Counseling color palette was intended to be completely natural and soft. Combined with her branded assets, her new therapist brand identity feels more aligned and emotionally resonate with her target audience.
Therapist Website Design with Copywriting That Builds Trust
A large portion of this project was the website copywriting piece. Most of the time, clients who struggle to build trust and emotional connection with ideal clients have written their copywriting themselves. It’s not the fact that you don’t know your ideal client – you just might struggle to connect with them through storytelling!
The foundation of her copywriting was being grounded in empathy and connection. Every section was written to answer questions, address concerns and make her ideal clients feel understood.

Having sections that specifically address who you are talking to is a great way to establish a “I know you” attitude. The section below is a great way to attract individuals who are looking for the following specific services. This is also a great way to bring in attraction via SEO strategies.

At the root of all copywriting, we always optimize SEO. By offering SEO services for therapists, our clients communicate what terms they’d like to rank for, while we give you the data on what’s actually feasible for your website.
A Therapist Website Design That Speaks for Itself
Your website design should speak for itself – it could also be the frontrunner in leads for your practice. This is why many individuals often hire out for website design and development. While a DIY website can get you by in the first stages of your private practice, hiring a professional becomes essential when you are ready to show up on Google Search and scale for the growth you’ll soon experience.
The Mindful Mental Health Counseling website speaks for itself in many ways:
There’s a page just for NYC services. This is to target individuals strictly within NYC. This helps boost her local SEO strategy while also getting specific on who her services are for.
There’s a page just for NJ services. Again, this is for individuals specific to NJ. It’s helping her local SEO strategies as well.
The speaking page is a callout to brands. As Gianna is growing her practice, she also wants to highlight that she’s a professional in anxiety therapy in NYC. To do this, we thought a speaking page with all of her features was key.
When copywriting, branding and SEO work together, you have an online powerhouse that will work for you, so that you don’t have to market yourselves in your free time.

Why Branding and Web Design Matter for Private Practice Clinicians
I could go on for several reasons on why branding and website design matter for private practice clinicians. Here’s a few that stick out the most for me:
It can allow you to become self pay. The amount of clients who come to us saying, “I want to charge premium but I’m stuck offering insurance because it’s affordable to my clients.” Your pricing is not the problem – it’s who you are speaking to. Copywriting can help with this!
It’s how you connect with your audience. Connection begins with words. It’s what brings us in! However, the magic is in branding visuals. It’s amazing how color theory really does attract certain audiences.
Your website allows you to consistently show up – even when you don’t feel like it. There are always days in business where I want to take the day off and spend it going to a new restaurant with my family or going on a vacation. Some people are afraid they’ll get in a “dry spell” without clients. When you have a website with SEO, you don’t have to worry.
A professional brand is appealing to big brands. As you grow in private practice, you’ll likely want to begin collaborating with big brands to earn extra income. Most of the time, brands will only work with other brands who look and feel professional. It’s where they see how much you actually invest in yourself!
