What Strong Branding for Dietitians Looks Like (ft. Katie Schwartz Nutrition)

Table of Contents

When Katie Schwartz reached out to us, she was investing in a website design, but hadn’t thought about the brand yet. As a dietitian who offers evidence-based care, she needed branding that felt both grounded and approachable. By working together, we helped Katie establish a cohesive brand identity that reflects her values and connects with her ideal audience. In this client feature, we’re sharing the process of this project and why strategic branding for dietitians is so essential in building a trustworthy online and offline presence.

Trust and Connection Is the Root of All Branding for Dietitians

At the root of every dietitian brand design is trust and connection. Most clients do not have an in-person option, so connecting with clients right away on their website is how they book clients! Katie Schwartz is a non-diet dietitian based in Asheville, NC. She focuses on eating disorders, athletes and medical nutrition therapy – all areas of focus that can be very sensitive to readers.

With this in mind, Katie knew a brand was necessary to establish trust across a screen, but wasn’t really sure how to do it herself. Katie reached out to our studio on Instagram and right away we were able to onboard her as a client.

At Studio Adagio, we are known for specializing in branding for private practice. With a roster of over 60+ dietitians, she made the right choice by choosing our team! In this project, we crafted a custom nutrition brand design that included several logo variations, business card design, an email signature and Instagram highlight covers. Before diving into the visuals, let’s review her brand strategy, first. This is the key foundation to branding for dietitians.

The Brand Strategy: Setting the Tone for Connection

It’s easy to look over your brand strategy. While you may feel you have everything nailed down – our intake questionnaire is there to challenge your thoughts and really get you in the seat of your ideal clients. Brand strategy is what gets you clear on who you serve and why your services will help them.

After reviewing her completed intake questionnaire, we noted some consistencies of visual goals: modern, casual yet calm. She immediately came to us with a clear preference of greens and blues. This made crafting her color palette an easy one!

Lastly, with any design project, we want to ensure the brand feels aligned with the values Katie wants to reflect. From her intake questionnaire, this was inclusivity, compassion and authenticity. We were glad to see these in her lineup; often neutral-colored brands are ones associated with relatability and gentleness, which go hand in hand with compassion!

Branding for Dietitians: Colors, Fonts, and Logos in Action

Madison was the designer on this project and felt the pull to include hand drawn illustrations which made this brand feel so personal. As a dietitian (or any clinician for that matter), your brand should make your clients comfortable to reach out to you. Because you deal with very vulnerable and sensitive individuals, this is key to establishing a personalized connection before a working relationship.

Katie said her personal style was a mesh between modern boho and coastal grandma. While this statement gave us insight, she also mentioned she hated pinks and bright colors (which can sometimes be the focal point of boho style). This is where the Pinterest board comes in handy for our designers to reference!

Logo Variations for A Neutral Dietitian Brand

From her Pinterest Board, we noted the consistencies of neutral brand colors along with dainty brand elements. The dainty brand elements come in the form of either florals or thin serif fonts, which Madison incorporated both! The design decision to move forward with that direction was clear: a simple, neutral dietitian brand screams compassion – and we love that!

Branding Collateral To Set Katie Up for Success

Branding collateral are all of the “extra” items you can add onto your brand project. Think anything regarding to your marketing! For this project, Katie opted to add on an email signature, business card and Instagram highlights. We love when clients add these onto projects. Branding for dietitians is really about showing an initiative to keep everything consistent across their online presence!

Business Card Add-On

Business card designs can be very different based on preferences – they can be simple, circular, scalloped or even innovative with QR codes. Going along with the simplicity of this brand, we love using patterns as part of a business card to bring in texture. These will be great to hand out at in person events or at local businesses that are open to partnership!

Email Signature Add-On

Email signatures are our top add-on here at Studio Adagio. They are an easy way to establish brand awareness with every email you send. This is clean, clickable and on brand!

Branding for Dietitians via Instagram Highlights

Instagram highlights are sneaky – sometimes individuals don’t really think about these as an area that you can brand. However, at our studio, we like to utilize brand patterns or textures in our Instagram Highlight covers. With clients, we follow the same concept or utilize client logos in multiple colorways.

Why Branding Matters for Dietitians in Private Practice

Branding for private practice is constantly overlooked. Feeling underwhelmed with your graphics? You probably don’t have brand guidelines. Unsure if colors are attracting the right people? You may be using colors that you like, not your ideal client.

We often find that branding for dietitians is one of the hardest things to pinpoint during establishing your private practice. However, there are several reasons why it’s one of the most important things you’ll do:

Branding makes marketing easier. If you have pretty things to use, it makes content creation easier. You’ll show up more confidently. We see clients loving social media again after having a brand that’s created to give them a boost to get their stuff online.

Consistency is established. By investing in professional brand design, you’ll begin to note consistencies across platforms. This is key when users research practitioners to hire. There’s nothing we hate more than an Instagram account that relates nothing to the website they have linked in their bio.

Although Katie was already mid-way into a website design with someone else, she came to Studio Adagio looking for cohesiveness and connectivity across all platforms. By working with us, she was handed off a custom brand design that she can use on her website in order to “seal the deal” with clients by crafting awareness to who she is and what value she provides.
